FAQs

Interested in joining us for a class? We got you, mama. Here is everything you need to know.

Weather and Other Changes

What happens if it rains or the air quality is bad?

We rarely cancel class. We may have to move indoors or virtual. We send updates via email around 8:30 the morning of class. Updates can be location changes, moving an in person class indoors or virtual, link changes, etc. We also post on the Private Facebook Group. For more information, check out our detailed policy here!

Virtual Classes

How do virtual classes work?

Virtual classes our taught via ZOOM. The link is emailed/confirmed to everyone who is registered about 15 minutes prior to class. The instructor can see all of the participants and actively engages with them. You do not have to have your video on during the class, but it is preferred so that the instructor can correct form. All participants are muted until the end. The instructor does not play music, so that you can hear her exercise description and cues, so you are welcome to play your own! At the end of class, moms are invited to connect by taking themselves off mute.

Do I need any equipment for virtual classes?

We use resistance bands in every class, so you will need to get one. You can purchase from us and obtain via contactless pickup or you can buy your own. We use bands similar to the SPRI bands listed here. We also occasionaly use loop bands and core balls (esp. in Stroller Barre classes), but always have alternatives for participants who don't have them. You will also need a yoga mat, especially if you are working out on a hard surface.

What type of passes do you have for virtual classes?

We have a virtual membership for $69 and a virtual 5 class pass for $60. The membership includes unlimited classes and access to all of the recordings. We also have memberships that give you access to both virtual and in person classes.

Additionally, if you or your child(ren) have experienced any symptoms such as fever, cough, difficulty breathing, chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, loss of taste/smell, or diarrhea, or have been around someone who has, please do your part and do not come to class. It’s of the utmost importance to be considerate of others and avoid anything that would put anyone at risk.

What do I need to bring to class?

Bring plenty of water and a yoga mat or towel. You will also need your own resistance band, which you can purchase from us and obtain via contactless pickup or buy from a retailer. For Stroller Barre, it is also helpful to have a core ball and loop band (aka mini-band). Wear comfortable walking/running shoes and appropriate exercise attire. Jogging strollers are not required. For the safety of your children, please use strollers that are sturdy, not prone to tipping and with children properly secured. If you bring your child, we recommend keeping baby essentials in your stroller like diapers and wipes, snacks and/or toys for your little one(s). For outdoor classes, sunscreen is recommended.

I just had a baby. When can I join Stroller Strides/Stroller Barre?

Congratulations on the new little one! You can begin attending class as soon as your doctor clears you for exercise, typically after your six-week postpartum appointment. See you soon!

Can I attend classes if I am pregnant?

Absolutely! We encourage expectant moms to continue to exercise throughout their pregnancy as long as they have their doctor's approval. Exercise during pregnancy has proven to be highly beneficial by helping improve cardiovascular fitness, circulation and biomechanics, energy levels, self-esteem and recovery time. Instructors are certified pre- and postnatal fitness instructors and follow guidelines set by the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). We can modify any exercise that poses a challenge as you progress through your pregnancy. FIT4MOM® does require a doctor’s approval prior to beginning Stroller Strides® or Stroller Barre®.

Can I try a class before I join?

Your first class is always FREE! Come see first-hand if Stroller Strides® / Stroller Barre® is a good fit for you and your little one. To sign up: find our schedule here, click on the date you plan to attend, enroll in the class, and your first free class is automatically added to your account. See you soon!

How will I know if the class location has changed due to weather?

In cases of rain, poor air quality or extreme heat/cold, we will move class to one of our indoor locations or virtual. Follow us on Facebook and check our private group for updates an hour before class starts. If you sign into class, we also send notifications via email or text message.

Do I need to be a runner to attend these classes?

No. Stroller Strides® and Stroller Barre® are for all fitness levels. You are welcome to run, walk, or do a bit of both. You choose your pace.

Do I need a jogging stroller for the workout?

Jogging strollers are not required. For the safety of your children, please use strollers that are sturdy, not prone to tipping and with children properly secured.

At what age can my baby be in a jogger?

As a general guideline, when your baby can hold her/his head up, they can ride in a jogger. Before then, infants ride in their carseat which may be attached to your stroller with a manufacturer approved adapter. Check manufacturer guidelines for your stroller, carseat and adapter.

My child gets fussy in the stroller. How will I get a good workout?

We get it! This is a concern of many mamas, and we want to put your mind at ease. Our classes are designed to keep little ones moving and entertained by incorporating songs, toys, bubbles, etc. Of course, if you need to change your baby, nurse or console them, please feel free to do so. You also are welcome to bring a baby carrier and wear your baby during the workout with appropriate modifications. We are all moms, we are in this together, and we understand that kids will have good and bad days. Most often, kiddos quickly understand that we are full of fun and are excited to visit with friends, sing with our instructors, and watch their mama have a great time.

At what age can children come to class?

Babies and kids can join you at Stroller Strides® and Stroller Barre® at any age as long as they can still safely be buckled in the stroller. We recommend waiting until you have medical clearance from your physician, usually around your six-week postpartum appointment. FIT4MOM® does require a doctor’s approval prior to beginning Stroller Strides® or Stroller Barre®.

What if I need to feed my baby during class?

We’ve got you, mama! If you're in the middle of class and need to change, nurse or console your baby, please do so. Your instructor will provide you with comfort and direction.

Can my older children walk along or ride their bike during class?

Safety is our first priority, so we do not allow kids to be out of the stroller during class, regardless of age.

Can I still come to class if I don't bring my child in a stroller?

Yes. It's not uncommon for mothers to come to class without a stroller or child in tow. However, if you plan to not bring your child on a regular basis, you may want to check out our Body Back classes which are just for moms and with no children or strollers. Body Back is entirely focused on you!

CAN I BRING FAMILY OR FRIENDS WHO ARE VISITING TO CLASS WITH ME?

Visitors are welcome to come to their first class for free and may always join class for free on Saturdays and holidays. If you have an extended stay guest who would like to participate longer than one week, they are welcome to join us at the drop-in class rate. We ask that all visitors sign our waiver before participating.

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL MY MEMBERSHIP?

Sometimes coming to class doesn't work for you anymore. We get it. Life happens, which is why there are no penalties for canceling. But we'll miss you! If you think it's time to bid our village adieu, just let us know. And, of course, always feel free to tell us what we can do to make FIT4MOM SF Peninsula work for you.

I have another membership question. Who can I ask?

We're here to help! Contact us here or at class so we can chat.
